Today was a busy day. I've been really stressed and having hard time concentrating on things, but I have huge expectations of me right now... so I have to deliver! How do I do that? LISTS! I make extensive, detailed lists. I am a long-time list lover. Whether to keep me on track of give me the satisfied feeling of having completed a task, love a list. Never digital- always hand written!
1. Today's list dictated that I contact ALL of the Aromaleigh Angels who donated $35 and up with an informational email about how to get the creative process started. I did, and we're on our way towards creating the first shadows in the Aromaleigh Angels Website Gallery!
2. Today's list said that I had to take "L'Orchidee" Limited edition collection off the site until I pare it down to a smaller selection. I didn't get that done, but I did spent a considerable amount of time swatching and examining each shade that had the most votes, in comparison to what I thought would create a cohesive collection.
Here's part of that process! I laid out all of the swatches, lists and votes and just started moving sample baggies around, swatching them on my arms and seeing where it all went. I didn't come up with any definites but I can tell you that Moth and Seed Pearl are KEEPERS!!!
A close-up of the quandary!
But even more important, I had to determine what my inventory levels were for all of the pigments required to produce L'Orchidee for a permanent run...
Off I go to the pigment closet! Our shop is an odd assortment of rooms (sadly none of them big enough to be my office!) but we have a PERFECT pigment closet. Rows of metal shelves in front and behind, and in a locked closet! This is one of my favorite rooms. I typically make my phone calls in here, as it's far too noisy out at my desk.
Bingo... the last two pigments L'Orchidee needs are well stocked. We're good to go!!!
What ELSE did we do today? Hundreds of lipbalms! Assembly line style! I will be updating out of stock lipbalms this weekend..
Check out the spoils. Handmade, baby. We don't send these out into production.... we lovingly pour, trim and label every single tasty-licious one!
We always make balms first, as they go fastest and are the easiest to make. Then, we move on to more complex colored lip products. Up for pouring? Melancholia, Juliette, Monique and lots of very wonderful, never-seen-before HOLIDAY lippies!!! Give me a fortnight, at least...
Last but not least, I started to get caught up on the Aromaleigh birthdays that I am SO regrettably behind on. Before I went to Italy, I caught up through the beginning of October. Now, I admit, I am embarassed to be behind on such an important thing! Bday gifts are ON THE WAY!
Also, so are several lingering "Send in an old eyeshadow, get 5 free samples in return" shipments. We will be processing these soon. The program ended early because we need to rework it and the directions more clear as well as make it a new customer only offer.
LASTLY, I made a video... about how we make eyeshadows. This is all in line with the goals of the Mineral Makeuo Mutiny, which I started after reading to angry outrage of hundreds of bloggers in response to finding out that they were getting the same exact products from many different businesses. Not just that they'd been duped, but that companies were just repacking raw materials and not being forthcoming about it. I created this video to demonstrate a brief display of how an eyeshadow comes into existence- and just HOW MANYpigments can be involved!
Enjoy and please comment! I did this quicky and I realize I didn't dress up, do my nails or program any subtitles or background music.Oh well, the message is what is most important.I hope you learn more about what a unique, handmade company ARomaleigh is, and the type of precautions that we take for safety with your cosmeticsl
On that note, enjoy the video, let me know what you think and if you want to see more of this type of "transparency" to help you understand what is going on with the Mineral Makeup Mutiny, and I will be happy to do more to educate and inform!
